Intel spreads chip investments

Intel spreads chip investments

From the 88 billion dollars invested, Germany will receive 17 billion euros, where the auto industry is expected to be their biggest customer. Volkswagen already reported earlier this year, that in 2021 they produced 2 million cars less than planned because of the chip shortage. Intel will so build two factories in Magdeburg, Germany, which will create 7000 construction jobs, 3000 permanent jobs at the company and tens of thousands additional jobs across suppliers and partners.

Intel is also planning to update their existing factory in Ireland and further develop factories in France and Italy. All the operations are expected to start somewhere between 2025 and 2027. If the company wants some financial support from the European side, they will have to negotiate with every country separately.
