Amazon has invested 156 billion USD in Europe since 2010 and its growth in the region was boosted in recent years due to COVID-19 lockdowns that drove shopping online. While Perego declined to specify how many new warehouses are planned or where they will be located, he stated that Amazon's footprint in Europe would increase from its current total of more than 70 fulfilment centres, as the company aims to increase efficiency by reducing delivery distances and automating fulfilment centres. Perego also defended the use of artificial intelligence in warehouses, saying that it can make jobs safer by reducing the need for workers to move heavy objects or perform repetitive motions, and allowing them to focus on tasks requiring more skill.

Across the ocean, Amazon thought of a very interesting tactic – to give customers 10 USD to pick up their order in person, rather than being sent by postal services. It is believed that the company is trying to cut delivery costs, however, Amazon denies the statement. Nevertheless, in the last period they have started charging people 1 USD, if they decided to return the parcel by postal service if there was Amazon’s pick up / drop off location near their house.
