The last Boeing 747 was delivered

The event was attended by John Travolta, who learned to fly the 747-400 as a representative for Qantas Airlines and referred to the plane as the safest aircraft ever built. The 747, also known as the Queen of the Skies, was the first twin-aisle jetliner, designed and built by Boeing in just 28 months and debuted by Pan Am in 1970.

In 2022, Boeing delivered five 747 aircraft, while in 1990, its peak delivery year of the 747-400 version, the company delivered 70. All workers from the 747 program were either transferred to other jobs or chose to retire. The last 747 was rolled out in December 2022, bringing the total number produced to 1,574. Although Boeing also produces the 767 and 777 in Everett, the company has yet to decide which program will permanently occupy the 747 production bay, which is currently being used for 787 inventory and 777X work. Despite the end of production, Boeing will still be connected to the 747 through the aftermarket business and the Air Force One replacement program, which it won in 2018.
