Intel and Italy agreed on a site for chip factory

Intel has stated that the Italian facility will create 1,500 jobs, plus an additional 3,500 positions across suppliers and partners, with operations set to begin between 2025 and 2027, with an initial expenditure of around 4.5 billion euros projected to increase over time.

Among other things, the location is well linked with Germany, particularly with the city of Magdeburg, where Intel will develop two plants. Intel and the government have previously examined locations in Lombardy, Apulia, and Sicily. Draghi's close aides intend to enter behind-the-scenes discussions with their prospective successors to eliminate any chance that the arrangement would be disputed by Italy's incoming government, adding that the choice of location is very sensitive politically.

The state contribution to Intel's investment program must be communicated with the future administration before any transaction is finalized.
