They have received many complaints for this move, but the company is defending themselves that they did not violate any sanction taken on Russia. Shell have also expressed, that this was very hard decision to take, and they have only did so after the talks with government.

After the fiasco about buying oil from Russia, company has announced that any profit they will make of it will be put to aid fund for Ukraine and will directly go to help the humanitarian crisis in Eastern Europe.

Despite all the sanctions on Russia, Shell decided to continue oil and gas purchases from them, even though that in the beginning they also said that they will stop cooperating with their commodity market.
