This year, tirzepatide received approval from U.S. health regulators and will be distributed under the brand
name Mounjaro. The other three drugs are mirikizumab to treat inflammatory bowel disease,
followed by lebrikizumab for atopic dermatitis and pirtobrutinib, which will help cure cancer.
Eli Lilly estimates the cost of marketing and related expenses at about $7 billion, up half a billion
from last year. Additional spending will be on research and drug improvement, amounting to
between $8.2 billion and $8.4 billion. The drugmaker estimates its 2023 revenues at $30.3 billion to
$30.8 billion, up from Wall Street's forecast of around $30.12 billion. The company plans to focus on
a different area of disease treatment, as last month the U.S. Food and Drug Administration took
away their authorization for bebtelovimab, an antibody covid-19 drug.
