European aircraft manufacturer Airbus will lose about 15,000 jobs in one year. This corresponds to more than ten per cent of its total workforce. This was announced yesterday by a company that is thus responding to the negative effects of the coronavirus crisis on the aviation industry. The measures will mainly concern Germany and France.

Airbus plans to cut off about 5,000 jobs in France and 6,000 jobs in Germany. 900 seats are expected to disappear in Spain and 1,700 in Britain. The company intends to cancel another 1,300 places in other countries around the world. According to Reuters, Airbus currently employs around 135,000 people.

In yesterday's report, Airbus pointed out that it did not expect air transport to return to pre-coronary crisis levels before 2023. It even warned that this return could not take place until 2025.

In the first quarter of this year, the company reported a net loss of 481 million euros, while a year ago it generated a profit of 40 million euros. Its sales fell by 15 per cent to 10.6 billion euros.
