Jack Ma has withdrawn from the company altogether, mainly due to criticism of China's regulatory

system, as he has been accused of triggering sweeping regulatory measures by the Chinese

government, which has launched a crackdown on firms. Executives at giant Alibaba did not respond

to requests for comment. Jack Ma was to be seen at a school he founded in Hangzhou, where

Alibaba and financial-technology company Ant Group are based. The school confirmed that Ma had

visited its premises, and released photos as well as a video of the prominent businessman at the

school. Alibaba's shares began to rise after the news was announced, and their value increased by

more than 4%.
