Apple bought AR headset startup

Apple bought AR headset startup

This development comes shortly after Apple unveiled its own AR headset called the Vision Pro, a significant move for the company as it enters a market largely dominated by Meta Platforms. Apple's entry into the AR headset market will pose a challenge as it competes with Meta, the owner of Facebook, in a market where many devices have struggled to gain popularity among consumers. This move also follows a history of conflicts between Apple and Meta, involving issues such as user privacy and control of developer platforms.

Mira, the AR startup recently acquired by Apple Inc, has previously secured contracts with the U.S. military. These contracts include a small agreement with the U.S. Air Force and a larger agreement worth 702,351 USD with the Navy, as per government records and press releases. The report also mentioned that Apple has acknowledged the acquisition, stating that it frequently acquires smaller technology companies without disclosing specific details about its intentions. As part of the acquisition, Apple has reportedly brought on board at least 11 employees from Mira.
