The contract is a win for Boeing, since it keeps long-time client Norwegian Air with the company after the Oslo-based carrier announced earlier this year that it was considering transferring to competitor Airbus. The agreement signals a return to aircraft ownership for Norwegian Air, which was forced to rely on lease arrangements during the company's bankruptcy proceedings last year.

According to Norwegian Air, the agreement includes compensation for prior disputes over MAX and Dreamliner aircraft deliveries and technical concerns, resulting in a financial benefit of 2 billion Norwegian crowns (197.14 million EUR). The only problem that had not been handled during the airline's reorganization last year was the dispute with Boeing.

Following an agreement with airline giant IAG, Boeing has received its second large European order for MAX aircraft in recent weeks.
