New president Joe Biden also supported the package saying that it is possible that package will be approved before his inauguration in January will be "only the beginning".
Package would be created of $228 billion to extend the government's Paycheck Protection Program, unemployment benefits of $300 a week, $160 billion for individual governments and vaccine funding.
U.S Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell also supported the stimulus by calling on Congress to provide more assistance to small businesses.
The number of new coronavirus infections in the United States is rising and funding from existing state aid to sectors affected by the effects of a pandemic more than three trillion has already run out, Reuters reports.
