Credit Suisse to be bought by UBS

The rescue of Credit Suisse is necessary because it has threatened the stability of the Swiss economy and UBS shares will be the main source of funds to make the acquisition. The network provided to the collapsing bank by the government amounted to 100 billion francs to bolster liquidity, one of the largest transactions in the banking sector over the past few decades and combining the two largest Swiss banks. The decision to boost liquidity at a difficult time for the banks was also appreciated by the US Fed headed by Jerome Powell, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and also by the British central bank.

The news of the takeover was announced by the bank chairmen together with representatives of the regulators, the central bank, and the government. Credit Suisse is no longer able to save itself without the help of another bank, says Swiss president Alain Berset, because of the lost trust. Such a bailout will be more bearable for Swiss taxpayers, he says. Credit Suisse has had a solid foundation in his country since 1856 and its collapse will cause the loss of jobs for about 10 thousand employees.
